Financial Education Workshop for Young Citizens (Kona Kona Shiksha) held

 

Aligarh : The Department of Philosophy at Aligarh Muslim University, in collaboration with the National Institute of Securities Market (NISM), recently hosted a ten-hour workshop titled “Financial Education for Young Citizens (Kona Kona Sikhsha)” from March 21st to 27th. The workshop aimed at promoting awareness in the financial and securities market while fostering capacity building among young students.

The inaugural session, presided over by Prof. Arif Nazir, commenced with Dr. Aquil Ahmad, Chairperson of the Department of Philosophy, emphasizing the significance of financial literacy among youth. Dr. Ahmad stressed on the workshop’s objective of empowering students with practical knowledge in financial management and entrepreneurial skills, expressing gratitude to NISM and Dr. Akeelurrehman for their collaboration in enhancing academic interests.

Dr. Akeelurrehman, a resource person from NISM, elaborated on the workshop’s aim, objectives, and course contents. Drawing from his extensive experience with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Dr. Akeelurrehman shared insights gleaned from conducting over 600 financial education and investor awareness programs.

Throughout the workshop, Dr. Akeelurrehman delved into various domains of financial education. Topics included the importance of investments, prerequisites for participating in securities markets, understanding mutual funds, and career prospects in the Indian securities market. Interactive sessions facilitated learning on investment opportunities, market participation processes, and risk management strategies.

Prof. Arif Nazir, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, lauded the workshop as a commitment to educating students and faculty interested in financial market investments. He stressed the transformative impact of early investments on personal and professional lives, commending the efforts of the organizing team.

The workshop concluded with participants sharing their experiences and feedback, with 73 students from the Department of Philosophy in attendance.
