Ural Federal University to Further Advance Kazakhstan’s Metallurgical Industry
The Ural Federal University researchers will introduce advanced technologies in non-ferrous metallurgy enterprises of Kazakhstan. The university signed an agreement with the Institute of Metallurgy and Ore Beneficiation of the Kazakh National Research Technical University after K. I. Satbayev. Viсtor Koksharov, UrFU Rector, and Bagdaulet Kenzhaliyev, the Chairman of the Board of the Institute, signed the document during the II Forum of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions of Russia and Kazakhstan in Almaty.
“The possibility of cooperation was discussed at the end of last year. We are confident that our scientists have the expertise to accomplish the tasks set by our partners. Our primary means of communication is through our alumni in the Republic. The local Alumni Association branch is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year,” Koksharov said.
One of the central events of the visit was a meeting of the university representatives with Nurtay Abykayev, President of the Kazakhstan National Academy of Natural Sciences (KazNANS), Chairman of the Kazakhstan Alumni Association of UPI, USU, and UrFU. The participation from the Russian side was attended by Alexander Ponomaryov, Executive Director of the Alumni Association, Sergey Tushin, Vice-Rector for International Relations, and Pavel Reznik, Deputy Vice-Rector for Master’s Degree Development.
UrFU Rector invited KazNAEN scientists to take part in the II International Scientific and Practical Conference “Technological Sovereignty of the Machine-Building Complex of Russia”, organized by Abykayev’s native Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, now the Institute of New Materials and Technologies, on April 18-19, as well as in the Youth Scientific Conference “Hydrogen Energy Today” on May 17.
Victor Koksharov and Sayan Zhienbaev, General Director of the Kirov Machine-Building Plant, discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the sphere of additional professional education.
We want to remind you that Dauren Abayev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia, came to UrFU to hold a meeting with students and management of the university in late February. There was a presentation of personal scholarships of the trust capital “Kazakhstan” to students from the Republic with the participation of Alumni Maksudbek Rakhanov and Leila Kozhakova on the margins of the visit.
