Annual function organized
ALIGARH : The Aligarh Muslim University Women’s Polytechnic organized its Annual Function with prize distribution for the winners of various literary, cultural and sports events organized over the last few weeks to celebrate various occasions.
Addressing the students, the chief guest, AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof Naima Khatoon appreciated the role the Women’s Polytechnic is playing in spreading technical education among the female students and thus working to strengthen the idea of women empowerment in the true sense.
She said it is appreciable that the polytechnic is helping women to secure careers as future engineers, fashion designers and IT professionals, and attain overall development through academic pursuits and literary, cultural and sports activities. She urged the female students to come out of their shells and be assertive to survive the highly competitive environment.
She said that the university administration will provide all necessary help and support to the Women’s Polytechnic in securing the status of a Women’s Institute of Technology.
The Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology congratulated the winners of various events and urged them to participate in the competitive events as it would help them polish their skills.
Dr. Ayesha Farooq (Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Research) was the guest of honour and Prof. Samina Khan (Presiding Officer, Internal Complaint Committee) was the special guest.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, the Principal of the Women’s Polytechnic, Dr. Salma Shaheen read out the annual report and highlighted the achievements of the faculty members and students.
Ms Tanushka Gautam, Vice-President, Poly Society delivered a welcome address, Ms Syeda Shira Moin conducted the programme and Dr Sheeba Kamal, Incharge, Poly Society extended a vote of thanks.
