Westland Books has announced the acquisition of The Maz Files: Scoops, Scams and Showdowns by acclaimed Dubai-based investigative journalist Mazhar Farooqui (Maz) today. Offering an unfiltered account of Mazhar Farooqui’s life as an investigative journalist, the book includes insightful essays on 13 ‘evil geniuses’, among them Indians, and reveals intriguing scoops from his career. The book is scheduled to release in August 2024.
Among other things, The Maz Files talks about the way thousands of computer-literate youth from India have joined Chinese cybercrime syndicates abroad. From there, these syndicates target people in India with the help of their Pakistani managers, defrauding them out of millions of dollars.
Reflecting on his three-month investigation into the racket Mazhar Faarooqui said, “It’s truly alarming. Not only is China encroaching on our land, cyber syndicates from the country are exploiting Indians and draining their bank accounts. It’s Jamtara on an industrial scale, with heightened sophistication.”
