Tech and Sustainability Take Center Stage at Pearl Academy’s Portfolio 2024

Pearl Academy hosted Portfolio 2024, its marquee annual event at the Delhi-West campus, providing a platform for students to showcase their creativity and innovation. Significant collaborations included Pearl Academy further strengthening its partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) for short-term certification courses. Among the big announcements was MAC Cosmetics being named the official makeup partner for Pearl Academy. The event was attended by prominent figures across various industries including Charu Shankar, celebrated for her role in the film "Animal," alongside industry stalwarts like Mr. Sunil Sethi, Chairman of FDCI, as well as renowned designers Rimzim Dadu, Payal Jain, Gaurav Khanijo among others. Renowned digital content creator Vishnu Kaushal was also present, engaging with the students and adding to the event’s vibrant atmosphere. More than 2500 students from reputed schools across Delhi attended the event, which featured an array of activities including workshops, fashion shows, student displays, film screenings, and talks, providing students with exposure to industry experts, fostering meaningful networking opportunities, and enriching their educational experience.

 

New Delhi : Pearl Academy, a leading creative education institution, organised Portfolio 2024, an annual event that serves as a platform for graduating students to showcase their creativity and innovation at its Delhi-West campus. The event holds immense significance as it offers students an unparalleled opportunity to exhibit their talent, ideas, and projects to industry experts.

 

Mr Sunil Sethi, Chairman of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), graced the event as the guest of honour. Also present at the event were film actor Charu Shankar, renowned designers Ms Rimzim Dadu, Ms Payal Jain, Mr Gaurav Khanijo and Dr Sharad Mehra, President, Creative Arts Education Society. Renowned digital content creator Vishnu Kaushal was also present, engaging with the students and adding to the event’s vibrant atmosphere.

 

The theme for Portfolio, ’Tech Nomads’, was inspired by the fact that digital natives are like wanderers in the virtual world, seamlessly transitioning from one online space to another. The students’ work mirrored current trends and issues, capturing the essence of the world we live in today.

 

This year’s Portfolio was particularly significant as several key collaborations were announced at the event. Pearl Academy has maintained a longstanding partnership with FDCI, providing students with opportunities to showcase their work at prestigious events such as the Lakme Fashion Week in Delhi and Mumbai, as well as a special showcase at the India Couture Week. This partnership was further strengthened, promising an array of opportunities, including co-certification for short-term certificate courses across various disciplines, masterclasses conducted by FDCI designers, and extensive co-branding and promotional activities.

 

Additionally, the event marked the launch of a video showcasing the Fashion Laboratory run by Pearl Academy for the women inmates of Tihar Jail since 2017. Furthermore, Pearl Academy announced collaborations with MAC Cosmetics as its official Makeup partner, along with existing industry alliances for Mac Makeup Masterclasses. These partnerships offer students invaluable opportunities for training, access to industry expertise, and promising avenues for internships and placements.

 

This year’s Portfolio was a two-day event with curated workshops, fashion shows, student work displays, film screenings, and insightful talks featuring its students and stellar alumni. The event was a unique opportunity for the students from the institution’s Delhi West and South and Jaipur campuses to showcase their creativity in the presence of leading stalwarts from the creative industry, besides the opportunity to network with them. It concluded with a captivating fashion show on the adaptation of Hensel and Gretel, which showcased hologram technology and the fusion of sustainability with technology. The show creatively blurred reality and fantasy, portraying characters as problem solvers within an ecosystem driven by power, energy, and AI.
