Training Programme on KIBO-XS for Visually impaired users

 

Aligarh : Maulana Azad Library, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized a training programme on KIBO-XS (Knowledge in a Box) for visually impaired users, to create awareness about the library services and facilities especially available for visually impaired students and research scholars at the Library and how to access and use the Kibo XS device effectively for research and academic work.

The University Librarian Prof. Nishat Fatima welcomed the resource persons and attendees. She said that Kibo XS is one of the best solutions that help listen, translate, digitise and audiotize the content across different global languages.

Resource Person Mr. Prashant Sagar, Bangalore gave a live demo of the various features and services of the Kibo XS. He said it is a multi-lingual scanning and reading device that can seamlessly connect with any PC/Computer/Laptop as well as any Android Smartphone to read any printed or handwritten documents in audio across 13 Indian languages. He further said the Kibo device has been developed by Trestle Labs, Bangalore. This device enables real-time access to any kind of Printed, Handwritten and Digital Content to empower people with print and learning disabilities towards inclusive education and equal employment opportunities.

Dr. Monawwer Eqbal, Deputy Librarian and Dr. Syed Shaz Husain, Assistant Librarian, Maulana Azad Library gave hands-on training on KiboXS to the students and research scholars.

Technical support was provided by Mr. Abid Ali and Mr. Kamaluddin.

Dr. Monawwer Eqbal proposed a vote of thanks and expressed his gratitude to Dr. Asif Fareed Siddiqui, Deputy Librarian and Section in-charge for providing required support and facilities to conduct the training progamme.
