Department of Moalejat organizes Health Awareness Camp

Aligarh : The Department of Moalejat, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized a health awareness camp at A.H. Indus Public school, Aligarh, to raise awareness among the students about the healthy lifestyle and do’s and don’ts of the summer season.

Dr. S. Javed Ali delivered a lecture on health and hygiene during summer, followed by lectures by Mr. Mohd. Mushfiq and Mr. Abdullah Faizul Hasan, M.D. scholars of the Department of Moalejat on Do’s and Don’ts of the summer season.

Both the speakers emphasized that heat and sweat in the summer months can leave the body dehydrated, causing unwanted health conditions. They advised the students to drink at least two to three liters of water every day, programme outdoor activities to the cooler parts of the day, wear loose clothing, eat easy digestible food to avoid indigestion and bloating, and protect the skin from the ultraviolet rays by putting on generous amounts of sunscreen.

They also urged upon the students to wear sunglasses to protect the eyes from the harsh rays of the sun, avoid excessive caffeine consumption, try to stay indoors during the afternoons, avoid fast food, deep-fried or street food, drink plenty of water and other fluids, do not skip work-out and keep your packaged drinks’ consumption under control as they contain high amounts of added sugar.

The students were also advised to consume seasonal fruits and veggies.

Mrs. Shaheen Parveen, Principal of the School welcomed the members of the Department of Moalejat. Praising the efforts of the Department she requested the Chairperson to have such lectures in future also.

Prof. Badrudduja Khan, Chairman, Department of Moalejat appreciated the school management for organizing such a programme for the benefit of the students.

Mr Ahmer Meraj and Mr Arif Khan from the Department of Moalejat were also present on the occasion.
