TUM and TÜV Süd Joint Project Wins EFMD Excellence in Practice Award for Continuing Education Program

With its TUM Institute for LifeLong Learning, TUM is responding to the need for continuing education resulting from rapid technological progress and the transformation of the world of work. In addition to individual programs, the TUM Institute for LifeLong Learning also cooperates with companies for continuing education.

One of these programs has now received a special award from the renowned non-profit organization EFMD: the Global Expert Development Program of TUM and TÜV Süd. Around ten years ago, the two partners developed a program to equip TÜV Süd’s technical experts with the skills needed to meet the demands of a globalized world. Since then, 185 participants from 27 countries were trained in 11 runs of the program.

“An exceptional, international program“
“We are delighted about this award,” says Prof. Claudia Peus, Founding Director of the TUM Institute for LifeLong Learning and Senior Vice President for Talent Management and Diversity. “TUM’s combination of grounding in top level research and technology development as well as entrepreneurial spirit together with TÜV SÜD’s practical expertise has led to this exceptional, international program in a co-creation process.”

The European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) is a non-profit foundation headquartered in Brussels. As an international accreditation and certification authority it awards among other things the renowned EQUIS Seal, which the TUM School of Management received in 2017. The EFMD Excellence in Practice Awards were launched in 2007 showcasing collaborative practices in executive education. They are awarded in gold and silver in five categories. TUM is one of the first German educational institutions to receive the award.
