University of Adelaide Climbs in QS World Rankings
The University of Adelaide has continued to improve its placings in the 2025 QS World University Ranking, moving up seven places this year.
The rankings, released today, revealed the University had climbed to the 82nd spot, compared to 89th last year.
The University of Adelaide has maintained its first position in South Australia and eighth in Australia while cementing its position as one of the best universities amongst over 10,000 worldwide.
“This result highlights the University of Adelaide’s consistent, year-on-year improvements in its QS academic reputation scores,” said Professor Peter Høj AC, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of Adelaide.
“The result is a fantastic achievement for the University, reflecting its position as one of the best performing education institutions nationally and globally.”
As a member of the research-intensive Group of Eight universities, the QS ranking recognises the importance and depth of the work University staff are involved in. Earlier this year, 14 University of Adelaide subjects were rated in the global top 100 of the QS World University Rankings by Subject.
“These ranking results demonstrate the value and quality of the work carried out by our researchers, who are finding solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges,” said Professor Høj.
“We wouldn’t have reached this point without the strong collaboration with our international partner networks, who extend our reach and reputation.
“The recognition is also beneficial for our students as it demonstrates they are learning from some of the brightest minds in the world who can prepare them to make their own mark in the world – something we not only observe here in Australia but also internationally.
“The University’s ability to consistently rank within the top 100 institutions in the world augers well for the new Adelaide University with its ambition to also be among the highest ranked institutions in Australia as a leading global university because of the excellent things it will do.”
The University of Adelaide is consistently placed at the top of many of the world’s tertiary sector rankings.
