University of Wollongong Welcomes New Faces at Open Day for Prospective Students
The University of Wollongong (UOW) will welcome thousands of prospective students and their families on Saturday 22 June during the highly anticipated annual UOW Open Day at the Wollongong campus.
UOW Open Day offers an immersive experience for the entire community to discover all aspects of student and campus life and see for themselves why UOW is ranked as one of the best universities for student experience.
Potential and future undergraduate and post-graduate students will have the opportunity to attend course presentations, meet academics and current students, go on campus tours and explore accommodation options, network with alumni and experience first-hand the friendly vibe at UOW.
The event will feature an Expo Hall full of study area booths staffed by UOW course experts and advisors providing course information.
More than 100 information sessions will run throughout the day covering – not only academic programs – but also Early Admission, Scholarships, Accommodation, High Achiever Programs, and UOW’s Study Abroad opportunities.
Open Day will be an in-person event at the UOW Wollongong campus between 10am to 3pm, featuring stalls, practical demonstrations, games, live music and plenty of giveaways.
UOW Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Student Life) Senior Professor Sue Bennett said UOW Open Day is the perfect opportunity to experience the UOW difference.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone to UOW Open Day. From high-school students, non-school leavers and post-graduate students, their families and curious members of the local community there is something for everyone,” Professor Bennett said.
“Open Day is an interactive experience providing plenty of opportunities to meet academics, current students and our esteemed alumni to get all your questions answered and ensure you’re making a confident decision about your future studies in 2025 and beyond.
“Student-led tours will run regularly throughout the day to guide people through our world-class facilities.”
Open Day will feature a Student Support Services Hub where attendees can find out about student services such as the Student Accessibility & Inclusion, Careers Central, Library services, and more.
A popular highlight of last year’s event, the Early Admissions Help Hub, is back again. UOW’s friendly staff will help current Year 12 high school students learn about, start, or complete their UOW Early Admission application.
To celebrate International Women In Engineering Day, on Sunday 23 June, the Enabled by Engineering: International Women in Engineering Day event will be held during Open Day at 2pm in the SMART Infrastructure Facility (Building 6) featuring a panel of practising professional engineers and students talking about their experiences in the field and in industry.
The Alumni and Parents Lounge will offer a vibrant space for fun, insight, and connection, featuring a photobooth, complimentary coffee, and a chance for alumni parents to win a $200 Visa gift card. Attendees can also gain valuable career insights from UOW alumni through panel discussions across every Faculty throughout the day.
The full UOW Open Day program is available online upon registration so attendees can review the program and plan their day via the Dashboard. Information sessions will run for 30 to 45 minutes.
UOW Wollongong eateries and cafes will also be open during the day, so attendees can take a break, grab some lunch and relax around the duck pond or on the McKinnon lawn.
