University of Edinburgh Moves Forward with Plans for Hague Research Hub
Professor Sir Peter Mathieson, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University, and Hester Bijl from Leiden University announced joint funding to develop the Hub at an event on 10 June in the Netherlands.
Based in The Hague, the Hub will focus on delivering courses that address global challenges, whilst committed to making an impact locally.
The Hub will be built around collaborations and will initially involve several University schools and institutes including Social and Political Sciences, Law, Literatures, Languages and Cultures, Business, and Edinburgh Futures Institute.
The partnership will explore joint degree programs, executive development courses, and new student mobility opportunities.
The vision for the Hub is to become a centre of excellence for interdisciplinary research.
To support the hub’s initiatives, both universities will invest €50,000 each in pilot activities aimed at curriculum innovation and research collaboration.
Professor Sir Peter Mathieson said: “This partnership will build upon the complementary strengths of both institutions, and the strategic location of The Hague, to deliver world-class learning and opportunities for our students. The Hub represents a significant step forward in international collaboration, aiming to prepare students and researchers to thrive in a complex, ever-evolving world while contributing to sustainable development and global knowledge exchange.”
