Leiden University Europe Hub Calls for Master’s Thesis Submissions for Inaugural Prize
Leiden University’s Europe Hub invites submissions from all faculties for its first annual Europe hub master’s thesis prize by 2 September 2024.
The winning thesis should touch on at least one of the thematic priorities of the hub and ideally consider these from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The winner will receive a certificate on having won the prize, as well as prize money of 250€. Those placed second and third will also receive certificates to indicate their runner-up status.
The Europe Hub is an inter-faculty platform showcasing the university’s research and teaching expertise and capacities on the challenges that Europe faces, both at home and abroad.
Eligibility
- A master’s thesis submitted for evaluation at any of the faculties at Leiden University within the 12 months preceding the submission deadline of 2 September 2024.
- The thesis must touch on one of the themes considered by the hub, namely: (1) Europe in the world; (2) Markets, trade, and digitalisation; (3) Energy, environment and health; and (4) The foundations of European integration. For a detailed overview of each thematic priority see the hub’s mission statement.
- The thesis must have received a mark of at least 8.5.
- Theses taking an interdisciplinary perspective are given precedence in the evaluation procedure.
Submission
- Submissions must be sent to [email protected] by the thesis author or their thesis supervisor by 2 September 2024.
- Submissions must include the following:
- A PDF file of the actual thesis.
- A recommendation letter from the supervisor summarising the strengths of the thesis.
- A motivation letter by the student summarising, in particular, the interdisciplinary aspects of the thesis as well as the relevance of the thesis to the thematic priorities of the Europe Hub as stated in its mission statement.
