SPbPU Welcomes Chinese Students for Gazprom Neft Internship Program
Peter the Great Polytechnic University was visited by students from China Petroleum University (Beijing) accompanied by international office specialist Fan Xiaoyuan. The visit took place as part of the Symphony of Cooperation international internship program organized by Gazprom Neft.
Last year, an international project «Embrace a Green and Wise Future of Energy» was implemented on the basis of China Petroleum University. A Russian-Chinese summer camp was opened in China, where the best students of the corporate master’s programs «IT — Enterprise Infrastructure» and «IT Economics and Business Analysis» arrived.
The main goals of the Symphony of Cooperation internship were to develop academic mobility projects for students of corporate master’s degree programs and expand ties in science and culture between Russian and Chinese universities.
First of all, students from China Petroleum University visited Gazprom Neft’s offices and digital laboratories, where they discussed digital technologies in the oil industry and their development prospects with the company’s experts. The visit continued with an introduction to Polytechnic University. An excursion to the SPbPU Museum allowed the guests to get acquainted with the history of the University, key historical figures and outstanding scientists, the learning process and the life of the first students.
After the tour, the students visited the Center for Project Activities of Youth — Fablab Polytech, a member of the global network of high-tech digital laboratories Fab Lab.
In the Center for Open Education students saw how virtual reality technologies are used in engineering education. They went through tasks on modeling technological processes and creating virtual spaces.
An important point of the program was a visit to the «GazpromNeft-Polytech» Research and Education Center, where students learned about its activities and ongoing projects.
The visit ended at the Industrial Streaming Data Processing Systems lab, where during the introductory lecture the students were able to discuss with the lab specialists real cases and student projects at their university.
The Symphony of Cooperation international internship program is a great opportunity for our students to get acquainted with the development of the oil and gas industry in Russia and learn more about leading universities. Our students visited laboratories and educational centers, got acquainted with the campus and the history of the university. I believe that short-term student exchange programs are a good start. And I hope that we can unlock even more potential for cooperation between our two universities,
shared Fan Xiaoyuan, a specialist from the international office of China Petroleum University.
During the first days of their internship in St. Petersburg, the guests got acquainted with advanced technologies and methods in the oil industry and exchanged experience with Russian colleagues.
