UPMC Altoona and UPMC Bedford Announce Michael Corso as New President
Michael Corso has been appointed president of UPMC Altoona and UPMC Bedford, where he has served as interim president since March, following the retirement of Jan Fisher.
“Mike is a dynamic leader with a steadfast commitment to UPMC’s Values,” said David Gibbons, regional president and senior vice president, UPMC Health Services Division. “He has a strong focus on the quality of health care available to people in the communities we serve, as well as the experience of both our patients and employees.”
Corso joined UPMC Altoona in 1994 as an administrative intern. Over the past 30 years, Mike has served in multiple leadership roles with progressive responsibilities at both campuses.
“Mike has extensive experience leading many successful programs and services at both UPMC Altoona and UPMC Bedford during his tenure,” said Robert Montler, UPMC Altoona and UPMC Bedford board chair. “We are excited to have him at the helm of these two hospitals.”
Corso graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in health policy and administration and from Saint Francis University with a master’s degree in business administration and management. He is deeply rooted in the Altoona community as a lifelong resident and active community member.
“I am honored to be leading a great team at UPMC Altoona and UPMC Bedford,” said Corso. “It is a privilege to play a role in shaping health care in the region I call home. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to transform and enhance our high-quality services to meet our mission of delivering outstanding patient care locally to the communities we serve.”
