Workshop on Tackling Gender Sensitization in the Workplace held

Aligarh: The department of Business Administration at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized a workshop-cum-discussion on “Tackling Gender Sensitization Issues in the Workplace” on August 5 at the department’s Conference Room, which was attended by research scholars.

The workshop commenced with an introduction to gender sensitization by Rushda Kalim, who emphasized the importance of actively addressing gender bias at all levels of society. Kalim highlighted the need for policies that promote inclusivity and create environments that support women.

Arham Adnan supported the discussion by presenting data underscoring the relevance of gender sensitization. He pointed out that even leading nations struggle with gender equality.

Hassan Afkari Idehlu, alongside Sumit Tomar, discussed the significance of gender equality, focusing on the impact of women in both global society and the Indian subcontinent. They presented statistics illustrating India’s position on gender disparity, particularly in women’s participation in the workforce and leadership roles.

Onaiza Sultan proposed practical solutions for building a more inclusive society. She addressed the disproportionate burden of household responsibilities on women, regardless of their employment status. Zeba Danish noted the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles within AMU, referencing the recent appointment of the university’s first female Vice Chancellor.

Prof. Salma Ahmed, Chairperson of the Department, who remarked that “Tackling Gender Sensitization Issues in the Workplace” is crucial for fostering a more inclusive and equitable environment in both academic and professional settings.

The session concluded with a group discussion, where participants explored the roots of gender bias and the importance of promoting gender equity. The workshop emphasized the need for continuous dialogue and education to challenge existing prejudices.
