ZHCET Conducts Three-Day Student Induction Programme
Aligarh : The Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology, Aligarh Muslim University, hosted a three-day Student Induction Programme from August 2-4, for the newly admitted first-year students of B. Tech, M. Tech, and M. Arch. The programme aimed to familiarize students with the university’s culture, traditions, and resources, ensuring a smooth transition into their academic journey.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Prof. M. Salim Beg, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. Prof. Beg emphasized the importance of class attendance, character-building, and industry-readiness and encouraged students to cultivate good habits and take full advantage of the university’s facilities.
Prof. MM Sufyan Beg, Principal of ZHCET, provided an overview of the college’s vision, mission, and milestones. He reassured students of the support systems in place, including the Mentor-Mentee System and anti-ragging committee, designed to safeguard and assist students. Prof. Beg also spoke on Outcome-Based Education (OBE).
The programme featured various speakers, including Prof. Mohd. Waseem Ali, University Proctor, who in his presentation on maintaining law and order on campus, highlighted the importance of adhering to the university’s Code of Conduct and maintaining decorum. Prof. Rafiuddin, Dean of Students Welfare, informed students about the numerous scholarship schemes available to them.
Professor Abu Tariq, Chief Tabulator, and Professor Malik Shoeb Ahmad, Incharge of College Library and Book Bank, provided essential information on academic regulations and library resources. Er. M Farhan Saeed, Training and Placement Officer, presented an insightful data on placement opportunities, stressing the need for students to enhance their skills and knowledge for global employability.
Additional sessions included addresses from faculty in charge of various clubs, encouraging students to participate actively in extracurricular activities. Col. RP Singh and Mr. M Imran discussed the benefits of joining the NCC, while the University Games Committee Secretary Prof Amjad A Rizvi highlighted the available sports facilities.
A highlight of the programme was a lecture by Prof. Mohammad Kamil from the Petroleum Studies Department on “Universal Human Values,” emphasizing value-based education.
The programme concluded with a yoga session conducted by the Department of Physical Education. Prof. Mohammad Kamil Coordinator, Student Induction Programme conducted the proceedings.
The final day ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sabiha Tabassum.
