BCLS Course for Postgraduate Students Successfully Organized at Faculty of Medicine

Aligarh :  The Department of Anaesthesiology at the Faculty of Medicine recently organized a Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support (BCLS) course for postgraduate students, coordinated by Prof. Syed Moied Ahmed. This course, mandated by the National Medical Commission, is crucial for postgraduate qualification and is designed to equip students with essential life-saving skills for their medical careers.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Naima Gulrez, congratulated Prof. Ahmed and his team for successfully executing this vital training program. She also expressed her commitment to further support the program by ensuring the procurement of advanced training mannequins to enhance the hands-on learning experience.

Prof. Veena Maheshwari, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, emphasized the importance of integrating such practical courses into the curriculum, noting that the real-world skills gained through BCLS training are indispensable for all medical professionals.

Prof. Hammad Usmani, Chairman of the Department of Anaesthesiology, thanked Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Naima Gulrez for her presence and support to procure advance mannequins. He also expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries and participants. He praised the instructors Dr S. Hussain Amir, Dr. Obaid A Siddiqui, Dr. Farah Nasreen, Dr. Shahna Ali, Dr Nazia Tauheed, and Dr Nadeem Raza for their commitment in delivering high-quality training that aligns with national standards.

Prof Hammad Usmani said that BCLS training ensures that PG students possess the foundational skills required to recognize and manage sudden cardiac arrests. The training also emphasizes the importance of teamwork in emergency situations, teaching students how to work cohesively with other healthcare professionals to deliver the best possible outcomes for patients.

The BCLS course received positive feedback from participants, who acknowledged the significant benefits of the training in preparing them for real-life medical emergencies.
