AMU faculty secures first-ever HEFA Project
ALIGARH : Prof. Asia Sultana, Chairperson, Department of Ilaj-bit-Tadbeer, A.K. Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has been awarded a project by the Higher Education Financing Agency), a joint venture of Ministry of Education, Government of India and the Canara Bank for financing creation of capital assets in premier educational institutions in India.
Prof Sultana said that the project will help evaluate the impact of finger millet on diabetes management. She said that globally, diabetes prevalence is on the rise, and according to a recent Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) report, 60% of the Indian population is living an unhealthy lifestyle, which demands an urgent response to this situation.
She said that the project aligns with the Unani system’s emphasis on dietary intervention, focusing the critical role of millets in controlling and potentially reversing diabetes.
Dr. Hamid Ashraf, Director, Rajiv Ghandhi Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, J.N. Medical College is the Co-principal Investigator.
