CDRI announces funding to support Urban Resilience

• The call for funding of US$2.5 Million is open to 30 Low- and Middle-Income Countries and Small Island Developing States which are members of CDRI.
• The funding will support cities to ensure their investments are aligned towards disaster and climate resilience of new and existing infrastructure.

New Delhi : The Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) today announced a Call for Proposals under its Urban Infrastructure Resilience Programme.

The Call is open to 30 CDRI member countries which are Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). The funding of US$2.5 million will support at least five cities across four infrastructure sectors: energy, transportation, social, and water.

The Call focuses on addressing challenges related to extreme heat, flooding, and water scarcity in urban areas as these issues significantly impact populations and affect critical infrastructure services.

Amit Prothi, Director General, CDRI, said, “This US $2.5 Million of funding will support those cities most at risk of extreme heat, flooding, and water scarcity with the data and tools to lock resilience into their infrastructure design, operation, and maintenance.”

CDRI’s Urban infrastructure Resilience Programme’s goal is to enhance urban liveability by promoting resilient infrastructure and implementing data-driven decision-making processes to manage urban shocks and stresses.
