Breast Cancer awareness programme organized at BAN Hall

ALIGARH  : The Begum Azeezun Nisa Hall, Aligarh Muslim University organized a programme on ‘Breast Cancer Awareness Among Indian Women’, to create awareness among the resident members of the Hall regarding the effects, precautions and treatment of breast cancer.

Dr. Syed Mohsin Raza, Secretary, Society for Breast Cancer Awareness (SBCA), Dr. Farzana Hadi, a prominent Gynecologist and Prof Syed Ziaur Rahman, Chairman, Department of Pharmacology, JNMC, were the special speakers.

The special speakers for the program were Dr. Mohsin Raza, MBBS, JNMC, AMU. The program commenced with Qirat by Sidra Bano, a student of M.A. Arabic, AMU.

Dr Mohsin Raza made a presentation on Breast Cancer and urged women to be careful and vigilant of all kinds of lumps in their breast area as the early detection of a lump leads to an impactful treatment and fast recovery.

Dr. Farzana Hadi with the help of a pictorial presentation demonstrated how to self-examine and recognize the early signs of it, and what to do after detecting a lump. She pointed out that the modern lifestyle is one of the major causes of breast cancer, which includes an unhealthy diet, disturbed sleep patterns and leading a sedentary life. She also shed light on cervix cancer, which is the second most common among Indian women.

Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman shared his views on breast cancer and the medicinal side of its treatment.

A question-answer session followed the lectures.

Earlier, welcoming the guest speakers, the Provost of the Hall, Prof. Asiya Chaudhary discussed the objective behind organizing the programme and the significance of educating youths in creating a healthy society.

The programme coordinator, Dr. Sadaf Parween introduced the guest speakers.

Binish Zubia, a resident student, conducted the programme, while the Senior Hall Monitor, Aamina Irshad extended a vote of thanks.
