Central University of Kerala Organized one-day Workshop on Civil Services Orientation

 

Kasaragod: The Civil Services Academy of the Central University of Kerala organized a one-day workshop aimed at providing aspiring civil servants with essential guidance and insights to excel in their exams and future careers. Prof. Vincent Mathew, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor (i/c), inaugurated the programme, highlighting the university’s commitment to empowering students for the civil services.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. B. Ashok IAS, Vice Chancellor of Kerala Agricultural University and Principal Secretary and Agriculture Production Commissioner, Government of Kerala. His talk, titled “Innovation in Public Policy and Action: The Role of Civil Service,” emphasized the vital role that civil servants play in fostering innovation in public administration. He also shared his vast experience and encouraged participants to think creatively and act with decisiveness in their future roles as public servants.

Prof. Suresh R, Head of the Department of International Relations and Politics, chaired the first technical session. The session on “Knowledge, Skills, and Attitude for Success in the Civil Services Examinations” was led by Dr. P. Kanagaraj, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Political Science at Government Arts College, Coimbatore. Dr. Kanagaraj provided valuable strategies for exam preparation, stressing the need for ethical conduct and strong character among aspiring civil servants.

In the second technical, titled “From Aspirant to Achiever: The KAS Journey,” participants had the opportunity to interact with successful KAS toppers, Mr. Asif Aliyar KAS, Assistant Director of Resurvey, Survey and Land Records Department, and Mr. Surjith P. KAS, Deputy Collector of the Endosulfan Special Cell. Dr. Joseph T.J, Assistant Professor of Economics, chaired the session. Dr. Sibasis Hense, Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health and Community Medicine, led a session on “Leadership, Teamwork, and Motivation,” while Mr. U. Sreejith, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Studies, conducted an interactive session on “How to be a Confident Participant in a Group Discussion?”. Prof. Amruth G. Kumar, Chairperson of the Civil Services Academy, welcomed the attendees and Dr. Ashalekshmi B.S, Coordinator of the Civil Services Academy, proposed a vote of thanks.
