Orientation programme held for newly-admitted residents of Sarojini Naidu Hall
ALIGARH : The Sarojini Naidu Hall of residence for girls at the Aligarh Muslim University organized an Orientation Programme for the newly admitted residents to get them acquainted with the Hall environment and the rules and regulations meant for students’ proper conduct.
In her address, the chief guest, Dr. Faiza Abbasi, Director, UGC MMTTC urged the students to make the best use of their time and resources available in the Hall for their academic and personality development and abstain from wasting their time in useless activities.
The Provost of the Hall, Prof. Afshan Bey said that the Hall administration is committed to providing better facilities to the residents so that they concentrate on their studies and achieve excellence in academics and later in their careers.
Meanwhile, a career counselling session was also held at the Hall in collaboration with the Training and Placement Office (General) and the Dean, Students’ Welfare.
The DSW, Prof. Rafiuddin and the TPO Mr. Saad Hameed highlighted various skills that are needed to make a good career after completing education. They urged the students to focus on strengthening their communication skills and spend time in extra-curricular activities as well, side by side with their studies.
At the end of the session, the students cleared their doubts in a question-answer session.
The programme was conducted by the wardens of the Hall, Dr Sufia Naseem, Dr Sadaf Nasir, Ms Nazia Begum and Dr Sameera Khanam.
Earlier, the Senior Hall, Firza Nasir welcomed the guests and the new residents. Senior Literary Secretary proposed a vote of thanks.
