AMU Faculty Speaks at DIA India Annual Meeting

 

Aligarh : Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman, Chairman of the Department of Pharmacology at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, was a guest speaker at the 11th Drug Information Association (DIA) India Annual Meeting 2024. The event, themed “Confluence of Care: Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Innovation, Regulatory Sciences, and Medical Devices Elevating Patient Safety,” took place in Juhu, Mumbai.

Prof. Rahman, along with Dr. Rajesh Kumawat, presented on the pharmacovigilance of alternative medicine, addressing common misconceptions. Prof. Rahman highlighted that his continued association with DIA, has helped him to understand advancement in pharmacovigilance and promoting innovation in healthcare. With the growing global interest in traditional Indian medicine systems such as Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy, the conference served as a crucial platform to explore and discuss their safety profiles.

Experts such as Dr. Stewart Geary (Japan), Dr. Seema Jaitly (UK), and Dr. Amrit Gill (US), among others, attended the event, highlighting India’s role as a global healthcare leader.
