AMU Professor speaks on “AO Cmf Trauma” at Basic Seminar

ALIGARH : Prof. Ghulam Sarwar Hashmi, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Z.A. Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University delivered a lecture on “Management of Mandibular Fracture in load bearing situation,” organised by Association of Osteosynthesis, Asia Pacific Region, held at Galaxy Hospital, Agra.

Prof Hashmi discussed the requirements of large bicortical plates as they bear all the muscular forces of mandible at the fracture site and provide absolute stability. He said that Load bearing requires reconstruction plates, ideally in combination with locking screws and it is needed in cases with bone fragment instability. Its clinical uses include the management of atrophic edentulous fractures, infected bone segment and other complex mandibular fractures, he added.
