AMU Hosts Provincial Round of Rekhta Foundation’s All India Baitbazi Competition

 

Aligarh : The provincial round of the All India Baitbazi (Poetry Recitation) competition was jointly organized by the Cultural Education Centre (CEC) of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Rekhta Foundation at Kennedy Auditorium , AMU.

Several teams from Aligarh Muslim University registered for this national-level Baitbazi competition. Following virtual shortlisting and qualifying rounds, eight teams from AMU advanced to the contest. The ‘Bahadur Shah Zafar Team’ claimed victory, while the ‘Israr-ul-Haq Majaz Team’ secured the second position. The winning teams from each state will now compete in the grand event, “Jashn-e-Rekhta,” scheduled for December 13th, 14th, and 15th at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi.

The judges for the competition were Prof. Syed Sirajuddin Ajmali from the Department of Urdu and Dr. Faiza Abbasi, Director of UGC HRDC. The event was highly engaging, with participants reciting remarkable poems across various rounds. In the second round, participants were tasked with reciting poems based on specific words provided by the judges. The winning team received a prize of INR 21,000, while the runner-up team was awarded INR 15,000. All participants were also presented with mementos and certificates.

The Principal of Women’s College, Prof. Masood Anwar Alvi, along with Prof. Tariq Chhatari (Retd.) and Prof. Salman Khalil from the Department of Statistics distributed the prizes and mementos to the winners and runners-up. The event was hosted by Dr. Shariq Aqeel, Chief Medical Officer of University Health Services.

The successful organization of this Baitbazi competition was led by Prof. Mohammed Naved Khan, Coordinator of the CEC, Dr. Ahmad Mujtaba Siddiqui, President of the Club for Short Evening Courses, and Mr. Mohammad Muzamil Hayat Bhawani, Program Director of the CEC. The event attracted a large audience, including distinguished faculty members and enthusiastic students.
