Indian Institute of Technology Jammu Partners with Indian Hotels Company (IHCL)to Empower  J&K Youth in HVAC Technology

 

Jammu– The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu with the Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, is proud to announce a strategic partnership to enhance youth skills in the rapidly evolving field of HVAC technology. This initiative aims to equip local youth with the necessary competencies to excel in the hospitality industry, bridging the employability gap and fostering socio-economic growth in the region.

Gaurav Pokhariyal, Executive Vice President of Human Resources at IHCL, stated, “Guided by our ESG+ framework of Paathya, IHCL’s skilling programmes are a powerful step towards creating meaningful opportunities for youth. This collaboration is designed to empower them to build successful careers and make positive contributions to their communities.

IIT Jammu is dedicated to harnessing cutting-edge technologies for societal benefit and empowering the youth of Jammu and Kashmir,” stated Professor Manoj Gaur, Director of IIT Jammu. He further expressed, “We are excited to collaborate with IHCL to equip young students with the skills needed to operate advanced and complex HVAC systems effectively.

The training programme will take place at IIT Jammu’s state-of-the-art Cooling Innovation Labs training facility. It will provide hands-on training in modern HVAC infrastructure operation and maintenance, ensuring participants acquire relevant skills to thrive in the hospitality sector. IHCL will sponsor 100 students for this comprehensive six-month program, which is set to commence in November 2024.

With an ambitious goal of training 100,000 youth by 2030, IHCL currently operates 35 skill centers across 15 states in India. This partnership with IIT Jammu marks a significant step in IHCL’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering career opportunities for the youth in the region.
