Elegant Departure: BRABU Badminton Team En Route to East Zone Tournament!

 

In a spirited event, the BR Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU) team received an official sendoff led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai. The occasion marked a significant moment as the Badminton team prepared to represent the university at the East Zone Inter University Badminton (Women) Tournament for the 2024-25 season, hosted by Sambalpur University in Odisha organised by Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

Expressing  his pride in the team, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rai asked  the athletes to compete with dedication and sportsmanship, representing their university with honor and integrity. Prof. Rai also highlighted the significance of such tournaments in providing exposure to students and encouraging a healthy competitive spirit. Praising the Government of India initiatives like Khelo India and Fit India, VC Prof. Rai said these initiatives not only help in nurturing talent but also play a crucial role in enhancing infrastructure and providing opportunities for athletes to showcase their skills on both national and international platforms. By creating a conducive environment for sports, these programs are paving the way for a new generation of athletes. VC Prof. Rai also praised the Bihar government’s initiative, Bring Medals, Get Jobs, and said this iniatives  is generating positive attention for its potential to pronote a better sports environment among students in the state. This scheme exemplifies a holistic approach to sports development, making it a significant step forward for the youth of Bihar. Vice Chancellor Prof. Rai highlighting  the recently organised Chancellor Trophy tournament, stared that as a remarkable initiative spearheaded by the Governor of Bihar aimed at promoting sports within the state’s universities. He said this tournament has not only provided a platform for student athletes to showcase their talents but has also promoted  a spirit of healthy competition and teamwork among participants.

Reiterating the university’s commitment to promoting sports among its students, the VC Prof. Rai stated that the efforts being taken by the university  are in line with both central and state government policies, as well as Rajbhavan directives aimed at creating a sports-friendly. environment. Prominent attendees included Principal, MDDM College, Prof. Kanupriya, Principal RDS College, Prof. Anita Singh, University sports council mentor, former IAS Dr. Sanjay Sinha,  secretary Dr. Kantesh Kumar, Dr. Navin Kumar, Sunny Kumar along with others.
