‘Nisarga’ Rural Camp by CUK Students Begins in Kallar

 

Kasaragod: A rural camp titled ‘Nisarga’ for first-year postgraduate students organised by the Department of Social Work at the Central University of Kerala started at Kallar Grama Panchayat. Prof. Vincent Mathew, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor (i/c), flagged off the team. Dr. M. Nagalinkam, Head of the Department, Dr. Rajendra Baikadi, Camp Coordinator, Dr. Lakshmi and Dr. Jilly John, Faculty Members, and Alina James and Muhammad Arif, student coordinators, were present.

The Camp offers students an immersive rural experience, exploring village social conditions, government schemes, and voluntary organizations’ roles. Activities include awareness programs, cultural events, discussions with local leaders, and a medical camp. Prof. M.R. Biju, Dean of the School of Social Sciences, inaugurated the Camp. Panchayat President T.K. Narayanan presided. Ward Member P. Geetha, Vice President Priya Shaji, School Headmistress Pushpa, and Oorumoopan K. Sasidharan offered felicitation. The Camp will conclude on November 3.
