New Director at AMU Murshidabad Centre

ALIGARH : Dr Mahboobur Rahman, Associate Professor, Department of Sunni Theology, Aligarh Muslim University has been appointed Director, AMU Murshidabad Centre, West Bengal, for one year or till further orders or till the General Selection Committee is held.

Prof Rahman has been engaged in teaching and research in theology for over two decades after his association with the Department of Theology, AMU. He has also served as a theology teacher in Senior Secondary School (Boys) and has taught a wide range of subjects ranging from Islamic culture, Quranic exegesis, Indian religion, Sciences of Prophetic traditions to Islamic history, jurisprudence, social sciences, etc.

He has authored two books, one co-authored with Prof Muhammad Ismail, Department of Islamic Studies. He has also published more than 50 research papers and articles in journals and magazine of national and international repute.

He has earlier served as the Nazim-e-Deeniyat (Sunni) from 2012-2018, Joint Editor Fikr-o-Nazar, President Theological Society, AMU and member of various administrative bodies at AMU and outside.
