Fellowships for Women in STEM at Australian Regional Campuses
Fellowships are available for early-career women researchers from regional Australian university campuses to collaborate with their counterparts at Indian higher education institutions in STEM fields.
The Australia India Women Researchers’ Exchange (AIWE) Program, led by the Australia India Institute and funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, aims to strengthen research collaboration between Australia and India while addressing the critical issue of gender equity in STEM research.
“The AIWE Program opens doors for talented early-career women STEM researchers from regional Australian university campuses to collaborate with leading Indian researchers in their disciplinary fields,” said the Hon Lisa Singh, CEO of the Australia India Institute.
“Currently, women only represent about 30% of researchers in STEM worldwide. Through these fellowships, we aim to create a more equitable research community.”
“These exchanges will foster innovation, promote diverse perspectives in STEM research, and contribute to a more dynamic research relationship that opens new frontiers of innovation benefitting both countries.”
Australian Fellows will receive $9,000 to complete a 6 to 8-week research exchange in India. The fellowships are designed for early-career researchers who meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Awarded a doctoral degree within the last five years
- Employed full-time in an academic position focused on teaching and/or research
- Physically-based at any Australian university campus located outside of metropolitan Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra or Perth.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to engage and collaborate with researchers in their STEM field at their chosen host institution in India, and build networks for future joint research projects or industry ventures.
