Women’s Polytechnic hosts workshop on “Basic Investment Skills for Financial Empowerment”

 

Aligarh : Aligarh Muslim University Women’s Polytechnic, in collaboration with the National Stock Exchange (NSE), hosted a workshop titled “Basic Investment Skills for Financial Empowerment”. This initiative aimed to boost financial literacy and empower students and young professionals by providing them with essential knowledge on personal finance management, investment options, and strategies for long-term financial security.

Dr. Salma Shaheen, Principal, University Women’s Polytechnic, welcomed attendees and stressed the importance of financial literacy, noting that acquiring these skills is vital for personal growth and economic resilience.

Mr. Izharul Islam, Regional Officer at NSE, addressed participants virtually, emphasizing the need for students to develop sound investment skills and a strong grasp of financial markets to make confident financial decisions.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Akeelurrehman, an NSE expert, who shared insights on topics including the basics of investment, mutual funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), sovereign gold bonds, and essential financial planning strategies. His interactive session provided attendees with valuable knowledge on making informed choices, understanding the benefits of portfolio diversification, and exploring various investment vehicles.

Over 80 participants engaged in this informative session, gaining skills and insights to make proactive financial decisions. The workshop was designed not only to impart practical knowledge but also to inspire participants to take charge of their financial futures.

Dr. Sohaib Masood, Organizing Secretary, coordinated the event, with Dr. Sheeba Kamal, Co-convener, overseeing arrangements. Dr. Sheeba Manzoor concluded the session with a vote of thanks.
