Lecture organized on Quality Standards of ASU drugs
ALIGARH : The Department of Ilmul Advia, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University organized a lecture on “Quality Standards of ASU Drugs and Role of PCIM&H” by Dr Raman Mohan Singh, Director, Pharmacopoeia Commission for Indian Medicine and Homeopathy.
Dr Singh provided an in-depth understanding of methods for standardizing traditional medicines and enhancing their global recognition. He highlighted the Commission’s objectives, achievements, and future initiatives, providing technical insights into the quality standards of ASU (Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani) drugs.
Dr. Singh also visited the department and interacted with the faculty members. He admired the research work being carried out at the department and urged the faculty members to do translation work for furthering research in Unani medicine.
In her presidential remarks, the Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal, J.N. Medical College, Prof. Veena Maheshwari commended Ajmal Khan Tibbia College’s contributions to developing and promoting research in Unani medicine.
Earlier, welcoming the guest speaker, Dr. Abdur Rauf, Chairman of the department, highlighted the relevance of the lecture for postgraduate students and researchers.
Dr Raman Mohan Singh also delivered a talk at the Department of Pharmacology, J.N. Medical College, and interacted with the faculty members.
The talk was chaired by Prof. K.C. Singhal, former Chairman, Department of Pharmacology, while the current Chairman, Prof. S.Z. Rahman welcomed the guests.
Dr Singh was accompanied by senior scientific staff from PCIM&H, including Dr. Jayanthy A., PSO (Pharmacognosy), Dr. Vijay Gupta, PSO (Ayurveda), Dr. Nikhil M. Jirankalgikar, SO (Ayurveda), and Mr. Afzal Hashmi, SRF (Chemistry).
Dr Singh visited 9 laboratories in the department, the Animal House, Seminar Library, Ibn Baytar Advia Museum and Herbal Garden.
He met with Mr Mohammad Imran (IPS), AMU Registrar, along with Prof Ubaidullah Khan, the Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine and Prof Badrudduja Khan, the Principal, Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College and Dr Abdur Rauf, Chairman, Department of Ilmul Advia, and discussed the modalities of MoU proposed to be signed between the AMU and PCIM&H.
Dr. Nazish Siddiqui extended a vote of thanks while Dr. Sumbul Rehman conducted the programme.
