MGNREGA activities resumed in G’bal, DC takes stock of works
Ganderbal: The Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today toured various areas of the district to inspect the resumption of Rural Development Department (RDD) activities.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, District Panchayat Officer, KundanbirKour, BDO Ganderbal and other concerned accompanied the DC.
During visit the DC took stock of various activities of MGNREGA including de-silting process of various irrigation canals of the district and urged the concerned BDOs to ensure that de-silting process is completed within the stipulated time frame as agricultural activities have resumed in the district.
Interacting with the workers who hailed the central Government in general and District Administration particular for allowing MGNREGA works amid the lockdown, the DC emphasized on ensuring social distancing norms besides using face masks during work.
Meanwhile, various farmers also interacted with the DC and appreciated the District Administration for starting de-silting of various canals of the district as most of agriculture land of the district is dependent on these canals for irrigation. The farmers urged the DC to ensure completion of the process at the earliest as agricultural activities have already resumed in the district.
The DC assured them that all major canals and important Khuls will be de-silted on priority and the necessary directions have been given to the Rural Development Department in this regard.
Later, DC also visited JNV, Hatbura Covid19 Health Centre with 300 bed capacity in the district and took stock of bedding and other related facilities.
