AMU Hosts Inter Hall and Aligarh District Open Swimming Championship

 

Aligarh, November 4: The Swimming Club of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) organized its annual Inter Hall and Aligarh District Open Swimming Championship at the Yousuff Ali Aquatics Pool, an Olympic-size facility. This year’s championship saw spirited competition across 18 events, with nearly 120 participants, both boys and girls, competing in various age categories.

In the Inter Hall competition, Abdul Mannan of Sir Syed Hall North emerged as the champion, while Arsalan Usmani of ABK High School secured the runner-up position. In the girls’ category, Fatima Zehra from Bibi Fatima Hall won first prize, with Sania Khan taking second place.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by AMU Registrar Mr. Mohammad Imran IPS as the Chief Guest and Prof. Asfar Ali Khan, Director of Schools, AMU, as the Guest of Honor. Capt. Dr. Farooq A. Dar, President of the Swimming Club, congratulated all participants and praised the club’s achievements.

In his address, Mr. Imran encouraged young participants to consider swimming professionally and pledged full support to the club. Prof. Asfar commended AMU schools’ performance and urged sports teachers to enhance training programs. The event was also attended by Coach Mr. Mohd Mohsin, Mr. Mansoor LSG, Assistant Coach Mr. Suhail Faruqi, and Mr. Shoeb Assistant LSG, along with former club presidents and captains.
