University Women’s Polytechnic Hosts 3-Day Jewellery Making Workshop

 

Aligarh : Aligarh Muslim University, Women’s Polytechnic successfully organized a three-day jewellery-making workshop for first- and third-semester students of the Diploma in Costume Design & Garment Technology. The hands-on training program provided students with practical skills in designing and crafting personalized jewellery.

The workshop, led by resource person Ms. Yashoda, focused on teaching various techniques in jewellery-making, including wire wrapping, beading and metalworking. Students explored tools and materials like beads, wires, and stones, gaining insights into creating necklaces, earrings, bracelets, anklets, and hairpins. The experience enabled students to cultivate creativity and precision in their craft, with over 100 unique pieces produced during the sessions.

Dr. Salma Shaheen, Principal, served as the Convener, with Dr. Sheeba Manzoor as Co-Convener, and Ms. Sadia Naim, Mrs. Fauzia Khan, and Ms. Ikra Salim as organizing secretaries. The workshop showcased the potential of jewellery design as a path to self-employment.
