Department of Anatomy holds cadaveric oath ceremony for MBBS students
Aligarh : The Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College and Hospital (JNMCH), Aligarh Muslim University organised a cadaveric oath ceremony for the first-year MBBS students, who were admitted in 2024.
The event holds significance as it marks the beginning of the students’ medical education, transitioning from their foundation course to a more hands-on phase of learning.
The oath marks a formal commitment that emphasises the importance of respect and professionalism when working with the cadavers that serve a dual role as the students’ initial patients and teachers, making it essential for students to approach their study with reverence and ethical integrity.
The Chairman of the Anatomy Department Professor Fazal ur Rehman said the cadavers were once living individuals who had selflessly chosen to donate their bodies for the advancement of medical education so these donors must be treated with dignity and respect.
Prof Aijaz A khan, Prof Farha Gause and Prof Salauddine Ansari also interacted with the students. Prof Farhan Kirmani, Dr Dawar Hussain, Dr Neema, Dr Imran, and Dr Arshad were also present during the cadaveric oath ceremony.
Dr Midhat conducted the programme, while Dr. Sana proposed a vote of thanks.
