Prof M Saleem Qasmi’s demise condoled
Aligarh : The faculty members and students condoled the sad demise of Professor Mohammad Saleem Qasmi, Department of Sunni Theology, Aligarh Muslim University, who breathed his last recently after a prolonged illness.
A condolence meeting was held in the Department of Islamic Studies, where the Chairman of the Department, Prof Abdul Hamid Fazili said Prof Saleem Qasmi was a kind-hearted soul, and the sorrow of his separation will always remain with us in some form or another.
Prof Obaidullah Fahad said Prof Qasmi was affectionate towards his students, while Prof M. Sanaullah, Chairman, Department of Arabic mentioned the services of Prof Saleem Qasmi in the field of Hadith.
Prof M. Sami Akhter, while expressing his condolences said Prof Qasmi was a gentleman beyond his academic and research services.
Prof Abdul Majid Khan said that Prof Saleem accepted criticism with a very cheerful face.
In his presidential remarks, Professor Adam Malik Khan said Prof Saleem Qasmi’s demise is a moment of sorrow and academic loss not only for the Department of Sunni Theology but also for the entire Alig fraternity. He played a significant role in promoting research and education in the Department of Sunni Theology. He was blessed with various abilities. He was a responsible teacher and a sociable man with literary taste.
Another condolence meeting was held at the Department of Sunni Theology, where the Chairman Prof M. Habibullah Qasmi, Professor Towqueer Alam, Dean, Faculty of Theology, Prof Saud Alam Qasmi, Prof Mohammad Rashid, Prof Tayyab Raza Naqvi, Dr. Syed Mohammed Asghar, Chairman, Department of Shia Theology, Prof Ijaz Masood, and Dr. Mohammad Suhail admired Prof Qasmi as a person and academic, and paid rich tributes to him.
