WWF India and McCann join hands together, to communicate the message of peaceful co-existence of man and wild through the short film, “Our Planet, Our Home”
New Delhi: With people in India and globally locked down in homes due to the coronavirus, the images from across the world present a very interesting picture – with people indoors, wild animals can be seen roaming the streets, birds sing on balconies, the dolphins have made a comeback in the rivers and the skies are blue and the air is clean. However, what remains to be seen is whether this will continue once life returns to normal. The WWF India film, developed by McCann Bangalore and Native Films, ‘Our Planet, Our Home’ https://youtu.be/PtqOSkZun4E explores this thought, conveying the message that the planet is home to all.
The COVID-19 pandemic is making all of us realize that we must do things differently, going forward, if we want a world that is healthy and sustainable for all. Nature has proven to us yet again about its resilience and the ability to bounce back if given a chance. As much as this is a health emergency, it is also a wake-up call that Nature is sending us to reset and reconnect.
Talking about the film, Himanshu Pandey, Director, Marketing Communication, WWF India, said, “This short film is a reminder that this planet belongs to not just us but also wildlife. It’s the myriad species i.e. biodiversity that ensures balance in nature for a safer, resilient and sustainable world. It is unimaginable to think of life without the varied biodiversity that surrounds us. According to WWF’s Living Planet Report, we have lost 60% of wildlife populations in the last 44 years, globally. So when we step out of our houses after the lockdown, let’s ensure we protect this biodiversity and build a sustainable world where nature and people coexist. This is a film that aims to inspire individuals, businesses and governments to strengthen positive action to help build a better world for our future generations.”
While we stay indoors, we take joy and find solace in the beauty of the natural world, seen from behind our locked doors. But it is also our responsibility to make sure this continues once life goes back to the usual. As we emerge from this crisis, we must embrace a just and green transition towards a social and economic model that values nature as the foundation for a healthy society and a thriving economy.
Expressing his views, Sambit Mohanty, Creative Head (South), McCann, said, “There is no Planet B. All creatures, great and small, have as much right to this planet as mankind does – because freedom is a fundamental right of all things living. And what this lockdown has taught us is that coexistence is key for all of us to thrive. I’m happy that WWF partnered us to send out this positive, uplifting message amidst these gloomy times.”
