Aligarh Muslim University seeks Level 3 hospital status for JNMCH
Aligarh: The Aligarh Muslim University Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tariq Mansoor has urged the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath to grant COVID-19 Level-3 Hospital status to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital of the university.
In a letter addressed to Shri Yogi Adityanath, Prof Mansoor said that the JNMC Hospital has emerged as a frontline hospital in the fight against COVID-19 Pandemic and its doctors, nurses and paramedical staff are serving day and night in the COVID-19 ward consisting of 80 beds and ten ventilators, with a central Oxygen supply to the isolation ward. The AMU has purchased one RT-PCR Machine for testing of COVID19 patients costing Rs 30 Lacs as well as placed order for 4 new ventilators costing Rs 70 Lacs.
Prof Mansoor said that the university has also placed an order for a Dialysis machine which will provide a separate dialysis facility for COVID-19 patients. He said that the JNMC Hospital has separate COVID-19 Operation Theatre and a Labour Room and all the funds which have been spent on the management of patients and equipment on this front have been arranged by the university from its own resources.
He said that JNMC Hospital fulfils all requirements for a Level 3 Hospital and its elevation as a COVID-19 Level 3 Hospital will immensely benefit the patients in Aligarh division as there is no level 3 hospital in this region.
