Kalinga Literary Festival successfully conducts second ‘KLF Bhava Sambad’ focused on theme ‘Mirroring Life Through Realistic Fiction’

Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Literary Festival successfully conducts second ‘KLF Bhava Sambad’, the web-talk on 24th May, 2020. The intellectual conversation was based on ‘Mirroring Life Through Realistic Fiction’.

KLF Bhava Samvad is an online dialogic platform to bring poets, writers, thinkers, philosophers, public intellectuals, spiritual masters, researchers, performers, and common citizens to reflect upon the lives and emotions around us during this lockdown and beyond. The session had literary figures Shyamala Shanmugasundaram, Ramendra Kumar, Sandhya Rani Ramdass, and Deepa Agarwal.

The discussion started with relevance and acceptance of fantasy fiction in Indian literature and went ahead with touching various segments like children and fantasy literature, how taboo subjects are forbidden by publication houses, preference of mythology etc.

Deepa Agarwal says, “Children can identify stories with their own experience, especially in realistic fiction. Indian children are frightened with our writings, which is the thing we should focused on. Any story should be written naturally.” To this, Ramendra adds that a writer should write by instinct, not for market.

COVID-19 has affected everyone everywhere. When people have been homebound, quarantined, nature seems to have regenerated. KLF Bhava Samvad is a small step to regenerate the literary spirit at the time of disillusionment.
