Bilaspur-based Dr. C.V. Raman University goes 100% digital for admission process for the 2020 session

Bilaspur: Dr. C.V. Raman University (CVRU), which is a part of the AISECT Group of Universities, has announced admissions open for the 2020 session. In view of the nationwide lockdown amid the coronavirus threat, the University has taken the admission process for the session 100% online. Students can now indulge in live chat sessions with counsellors through specialised counselling apps, access the virtual campus tour videos available on CVRU’s YouTube channel to get a glimpse of the lush green 60 acre campus, fill up the admission form and submit their fees online through enabled websites and portals. The University is also set to arrange career counseling sessions for prospective students along with online classes on personality development, soft skills and communication, entirely free of cost.

CVRU is credited to be the first private university in Chhattisgarh and it offers a range of Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses under 9 faculties that include Engineering, Education, Information Technology, Law, Commerce & Management, Journalism & Mass Communication, Pharmacy, Arts and Science. The University also offers Open and Distance Education options along with Diploma and Certificate programs. In addition to that, CVRU, in partnership with NSDC, offers a variety of short-term skill development courses through CVRU-NSDC academies.

CVRU Bilaspur is the first university in Chhattisgarh to be awarded an ISO 9001:2008 certification. The University is recognized under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act and approved by the AICTE, NCTE, AIU, PCI, BCI and DEC. CVRU has been a recipient of various national and international awards and is the only University in Chhattisgarh that has been selected as the Centre for Knowledge Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood under the self-financed category for the execution of the Deendayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra Yojana. The Centre conducts UG, PG and research level skill development courses for Telecommunication, Retail and IT.

Besides going 100% digital for the admission process, the University has initiated several schemes for the digitalization of the curriculum as well as the process of learning. CVRU features a campus radio station called Radio Raman 90.4 FM, which is the first community radio station set up by a university in India. The radio station broadcasts educational and entertainment based content with an aim to increase literacy of the people staying in tribal and backward areas around Kota regarding their legal, health and educational rights. Other key digital initiatives include conducting online live lectures through distance learning centres across India, offering e-learning online web/video courses in partnership with the National Programme on Technology and Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), online A-V classes in collaboration with Amrita University and IIT Mumbai and an extensive digital infrastructure with over 600 computers and 1500 online journals.

In addition to the live online lectures, online question banks, assignments, quizzes and other learning resources have been made available and a digital library with over 65,000 e-learning resources and study material has been curated. The University has also tied up with Eduvantage PRO in order to conduct end-term exams for a lot of courses. Virtual placement drives, career development webinars and personality development sessions are also being organised for graduating students.

CVRU offers state of the art infrastructure with more than 85 labs and workshops and modern smart learning classrooms. The campus features a huge library equipped with DELNET software along with well-furnished hostels and university buses. The University routinely provides opportunities for cultural and co-curricular activities and the opportunity to be a part of clubs and societies, some of which include: words.ink Society, MUN Society, Eco Club, The Legal-Aid Society, Adventure Club and Yoga Club, among others. The campus also offers sports facilities such as cricket and football grounds, badminton courts, gymnasium, stationary shops, cafeteria, etc. Other facilities include ATM & bank branch, medical facilities, guest house, round-the-clock Wi-FI connectivity.

The University focuses extensively on developing a research ecosystem with the CVRU Research Centre where research work is conducted in areas like biotechnology, biochemistry, food processing, life sciences and basic sciences; along with several issues connected to the local & tribal landscape. CVRU holds research linkages with international institutions like ICE WaRM (Australia), University of SIGEN (Germany), NCTU (Taiwan), Rennselaer Polytechnic Institute (USA), KAIST (South Korea), KYIV University (Ukraine), Tribhuvan University (Nepal), Benaka Biotechnologies Inc (USA) and MoI University Eldoret (Kenya).

Other innovative initiatives by CVRU Bilaspur include a 10KW Solar Power Generation System, a Rainwater Harvesting Facility with a capacity of 500 litres per hour, a Bio Gas plant which can handle 300kg-400kg waste and a Bio Tech Park with over 425 medicinal plants and over 20 different types of herbs and shrubs.
