JMI girl student wins Global Arts Competition of ICCR on COVID-19
New Delhi: Sana Quadir, a student of the 4th year of Bachelor of Fine Arts (Applied Arts) course of the Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) has been selected as the Winner in the Amateur category of Cartoon and Illustrations in Global Art Competition on the topic “United Against CORONA- Express Through Art”, organised by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations(ICCR), New Delhi.
The Art Competition received an overwhelming response from across the world .The event was to encourage artists to present their emotions, feelings , ideas and innovative thoughts in the fight against COVID-19 .
More than 8,000 artworks were received from around the world and it was a tough task for the juries to choose from several good works.
In her art work Sana has shown COVID-19 as a small creature which is moving throughout the city and spreading the virus” Vice Chancellor JMI Prof. Najma Akhtar congratulated her for winning the competition and making JMI proud. She wished her good luck for a bright and prosperous future.
Expressing her happiness Sana said that during the lockdown due to COVID-19 she has drawn several illustrations related to the Corona virus and luckily the topic in the ICCR competition was also the same. She submitted one of her work in the competition and to her surprise; not only she moved to the next round but was also declared as the winner.
She hoped to go as high as the expectations of the university and making it proud.
