Himachal Pradesh CM lauds role being played by youth during Covid-19 pandemic

Shimla: The role of youth is vital in overall development of a nation and building a strong and vibrant society. This was stated by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur while addressing the virtual rally of Yuva Morcha of Organizational district Palampur from here today.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the year 2014 laid a special thrust on digital India and it was due to his vision that today in this era of covid-19, the country was connected through digital mode. All the meetings are being held through video conferencing and he had personally interacted with elected representatives of all 3226 panchayats and over 54 urban local bodies. He said that meetings through video conferencing were being held regularly with Deputy Commissioners to review the situation of Covid-19 pandemic.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the youth of the State have played a vital role in this epidemic, be it distribution of face masks or providing food kits or cooked meal and even educating the people regarding importance of social distancing and use of face masks and sanitizers. He urged the youth to keep their emotional connect with their roots intact and alive as this covid-19 epidemic has proved that during the time of crisis the villagers gave shelter and lakhs of people of the State returned to their villages. He also urged the youth to ensure maximum use of social media for effectively disseminating policies and programmes of the State Government.

The Chief Minister said that the martyrdom of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was celebrated yesterday and it was after a long struggle that today Article 370 has become a history and Jammu Kashmir was now integral part of India. He said that credit of this goes to the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that emergency was imposed in the country by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on the night of 25th June, 1975. He said that Shanta Kumar was among those few leaders who was witness and sufferer of this dark period of Indian democracy.

He said that the situation of Covid-19 was far better than most of the neighbouring States of the country. He said that out of total 778 Covid-19 positive patients in the State, about 700 people were those who arrived from other States. He said that over two lakh people stranded in different parts of the country were brought back, which resulted in sharp rise in the number of covid-19 patients.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government has adopted policy of zero tolerance against corruption. He urged the youth of the State to come forward in fighting this social vice, which was a biggest hindrance in development. He said that as soon as the matter came to the knowledge of the State Government, the scholarship scam case was handed over to the CBI. He said that the State Government was ensuring that the culprits would not be spared howsoever influential he might be.

Jai Ram Thakur said that the nation today was being led by a strong and able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India has regained its old glory under his leadership. He said that even the leaders of most powerful nations of the world have now acknowledged his strong leadership. He said that abrogation of Article 370 was possible due to the strong political will power and today India is ‘One Nation with One Constitution and One Flag’. Similarly, the decision regarding Triple Talaq was also an historic one which has ensured empowerment of Muslim women and checking their exploitation. He said that Prime Minister has constituted ‘Sri Ram Janambhumi Tirtha Kshetra Trust’ for construction of magnificent temple of Lord Rama at Ayodhya.

Former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Shanta Kumar said that the BJP has emerged as the largest political party of the world and the credit of this goes to each and every party worker of the State. He said that there was no dearth of funds and only thing required was sincere efforts and dedication. He said that the six years tenure of the BJP has proved a golden movement and developmental works was going with no corruption. He said that each and every one of us must come forward and ensure that there was no corruption so that the people reposes faith in governance system.

He said that Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was leading the state with complete honesty, dedication commitment and expressed hope that Himachal Pradesh would soon emerge as a frontrunner State in matter of development.
