DC Kathua inaugurates Kissan awareness programme at Forlain
Kathua: Deputy Commissioner, Om Parkash Bhagat, inaugurated a Kissan Awareness Programme organised under ‘Kissan Pakhwada’ at Government Higher Secondary School, Forlain (Bakhta) here at Kathua.
DC, after inaugurating the awareness programme, inspected the stalls put up by various departments including Banks, Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, and allied departments.
The stalls exhibited farm implements, high yielding hybrid seed varieties, plant saplings and latest machinery for various farming related activities besides on the spot processing of beneficiaries application under KCC and PM-Kissan schemes.
The DC said the 15 day long activity calendar under ‘Kissan Pakhwada’ is devised in such a way that maximum farmers of the district can avail benefit of farmer welfare schemes to achieve ultimate objective of Prdhan Mantri Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Scheme.
He impressed upon the officers and field functionaries to make the program a grand success by covering all farmers including those engaged in Horticulture, Dairy, Fisheries, sheep rearing etc. under KCC scheme. He directed officers of agriculture and allied departments to intensify mass awareness in their work area regarding farmers welfare schemes like KCC, PM-Kisan, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bheema yojna, Soil Health Card Scheme, organic Farming, Pradhan Mantri Man dhan Yojna to achieve the target of doubling the income of farmers by 2022.
He urged upon the farmers to avail benefit of KCC by opting mix farming under different schemes of the department like Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, poultry etc. to create income enhancing opportunities. He also stressed for adopting the latest available tools and techniques besides high yielding cropping and plant varieties for optimum outcome.
ADC, Kathua, Atul Gupta, Director Agriculture SLUB Daisy Bhan, Zonal Head J&K Bank, Cluster Heads of all banks, Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua Arun Gupta, District Agriculture Officer (Ext.) Sanjeev Rai Gupta, LDM, district officers of allied departments, besides BDC Chairman Brijeshwar Singh, Sarpanchs, Panchs and hundreds of farmers of the area were present on the occasion.
