Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani at National Skill Summit Webinar on World Youth Skills Day

Chief Minister Vijay Rupani said here today that skill development is a powerful tool by virtue of which Gujarat Government has created a band of youth power capable of overcoming global challenges and make India self-reliant.

He was speaking at a function to mark e-launching “Project Sankalp” of the State’s Labour and Employment Department in presence of Labour and Employment Minister Dilipkumar Thakor. It is to create need-based industry-specific skilled manpower. It was on the occasion of National Skill Summit Webinar to celebrate the World Youth Skills Day on July 15.

The Chief Minister recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched ‘Skill India’ Mission five years back. Gujarat has set up Skill University to fulfil the Mission. Its success has created job opportunity for our youth at local as well as global level. Prime Minister’s other slogan is ‘Skill+Will+Zeal=Win’.

Mr Rupani called for taking the country to next level of ‘vocal for local’ to make India Atmanirbhar. With 65 per cent of population being young, he said that India is the world’s largest young country. Gujarat Government is committed to make youth’s future bright. With 3.4 per cent Gujarat has India’s lowest unemployment rate.

He said that skill development is an integrated process linking education with employment. The Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Scheme is launched to encourage Gujarat’s youth for skill development. Over 46,000 youth are undergoing apprenticeship training in the state in a matter of proud.

While the entire world is fighting pandemic novel coronavirus, he said that Gujarat is moving very cautiously. The state is devising unique way to ensure the pandemic does not disturb students’ studies, e-learning materials comprising 10,000 MCQ running into 2,000 hours in 12 different trades are being developed by 700 supervisors during the lockdown period.
