DDC Udhampur gives away Scooties to Specially-abled Persons
Udhampur: District Development Commissioner, Dr. Piyush Singla today handed over motorized tricycles (Scooties) to thirteen specially-abled persons of district, here at a camp organized by Social Welfare Department.
At the Outset, District Social Welfare Officer, Er. Sajad Bashir Somberia enlightened about the various schemes sponsored by Social Welfare Department for the welfare of specially-abled persons.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that the Specially-abled persons are the part of the society and every individual should assure their well being.
The DDC said that the aid like motorized tricycles will empower the specially-abled persons and enable them to live in society with dignity and honor.
The DDC also interacted with Specially-abled persons and hailed the efforts of social welfare department towards socio-economic welfare of different sections of the society. He further complimented the department for organizing the motorized tricycle distribution camp amid COVID-19 pandemic.
The scooties were provided by the State Rehabilitation Council of the Social Welfare Department.
Later, DDC visited Bal Ashram and Nari Niketan and reviewed the functioning of these institutions. He advised the Department to make necessary improvement in the facilities for the inmates and project the demands, if any.
