Aligarh: Prof Shakeel Ahmed Samdani, Dean, Faculty of Law, described Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) as a silver lining that ensures justice during the ongoing pandemic in an International e-Conference organised by the S S Khanna Girls’ Degree College, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
“ADR has emerged as the new way of offering solutions to parties and practitioners that will enable dispute resolution in the time of quarantine and enforced social distancing,” said Prof Samdani.
He added that the coronavirus outbreak has brought along a desperate situation leading to limited functioning of courts.
He further spoke on the presence of arbitration in the ancient and medieval periods and ‘Lok Adalat’ as a unique ADR method in India. Mahatma Gandhi preferred ADR mechanism, said Prof Samdani.
