AMU to Celebrate Gandhi Jayanti online
Aligarh: Owing to COVID-19 pandemic, this year the Aligarh Muslim University will organise the Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations through online mode on October 2, at 10 am. The exhibition of Books and photographs on the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi will also be organised virtually by the Maulana Azad Library of the university.
Vice Chancellor Prof Tariq Mansoor will address the programme and administer the national integration and sanitation pledge.
Prof M Shakeel Ahmad Samdani, (Dean, Faculty of Law), and Prof Rizwan Ahmad Khan (Chairman, Department of English) will deliver speeches in Urdu and English respectively. A few selected students will also deliver speeches on relevant topics.
Dr Shariq Aqeel (CMO, University Health Service) will conduct the programme, while Dr Mohammad Yusuf will deliver the vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, the Department of Commerce, AMU has announced an online National Level Business Quiz ‘Bizbrainzz 2.0’ and an Essay Writing competition on the topic ‘Relevance of the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi in the 21st Century’.
“The online quiz is a pan-India event and the purpose of the Essay Writing Competition is to encourage young writers, while promoting the teachings of the father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi”, said Prof Nawab Ali Khan, Chairman, Department of Commerce.
According to him, the quiz will be conducted in two rounds. The prelims will be held on 30th September through online objective test and the final round will be held on 1st October for those who qualify. “The prelims will be arranged through web portal ‘dare2compete.com’, where participants have to register themselves”, he said. The winners will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 3000. Participants of the essay writing competition have to submit essays within the 800-1000 word count at [email protected] by September 30, 2020.
