Javid Abidi memorial cricket tournament held at Anantnag

Anantnag: District Administration Anantnag organized two days Javid Abidi memorial cricket tournament for specially abled at Govt. Degree College for boys here in collaboration with Humanity Welfare organization.
A total of 08 teams, 02 each from Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam and 01 each from Budgam and Shopian participated in the said tournament.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) K.K. Siddha who was also the Chief Guest on the occasion distributed sports kits, trophies and mementos besides, appreciation certificates among the winner and runner-up teams.
During the tournament Anantnag (A) defeated Pulwama (A) by 64 runs and thus lifted the winning trophy of the tournament.
On the occasion, the DDC said that the aim of organising the sports event is to encourage the persons with disabilities and bring smiles on their faces. He said that entertainment is a right of every person and disabled cannot be an exception.
He also said that the district administration is working on a comprehensive skill development plan to facilitate economic independence of all educated youngsters with special focus on specially abled persons.
DDC assured every kind of support to the disabled persons, saying that it was ethical duty of all citizens to contribute towards well being and prosperity of specially abled community.
Earlier DDC also distributed trophies and sports kits at sports stadium Anantnag where zone level under-19 volley ball tournament was conducted by DYSS Anantnag. The final match was today played between hr. Secondary schools Anantnag and Dalgam won by Anantnag by 01 Goal.
Among others, Principal GDC, Boys Anantnag, ACR, District Social Welfare officer and DYSO besides other officers were present on the occasion.
