DC Bandipora holds interaction with PRI Representatives

Bandipora: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad Tuesday held an interaction with the representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) to listen to their grievances.
On the occasion, threadbare discussions were held regarding a range of issues concerning the PRIs. The representatives also raised several grievances and demands and sought early redressal of the same.
The DC gave patient hearing to the PRI representatives and assured them of every possible support from the district administration.
The implementation of several developmental works taken up during earlier phases of the Back to Village program was also discussed during the interaction. The DC said that the money has been released for clearing the liabilities and directed to complete the pending works during the current working season before the onset of winter.
He said the PRIs act as mini parliaments in villages and the elected representatives of the PRIs should be taken on board in all the developmental activities in rural areas.
The DC asked these elected representatives to keep a close eye on the working of government schools and health centers in their area.
He also assured the BDC Chairpersons and sarpanchs that the district Administration will do a kind of hand-holding to make the functioning of Panchayati Raj Institutions more effective.
Among others, Assistant Commissioner Development, District Panchayat Officer, BDC Chairpersons and Sarpanchs were also present on the occasion.
